This week marks the start of the first sitting in Parliament for the Rudd Government. Today Prime Minister Rudd gave the apology to the Stolen Generation. *** I will continue to write posts on the Becrux blog.

The new blog is at the address http://www.7gs.com/becrux It can also be reached through a redirection shortcut at becrux.net The tone of this Pharoz blog was critical of the Howard Government and now with a change of Government that tone no longer seems appropriate.

The main theme in Australian politics, that I think will emerge over this time, is the manner in which Prime Minister John Howard departs from politics, and the legacy he leaves behind. Howards legacy may turn out to be in reverse to what he may have hoped, defined in opposition to his best efforts.

The Road to Surfdom Blog Archive Fear …if I were a younger and more ambitious man theres no way Id be writing a blog like this. I would be sure it would disadvantage my future career prospects and scared that it might land me in even worse kinds of trouble.

Through discussing the ideas any misunderstandings could be very quickly clarified and you might even get an idea of a real person who would write things like that. The major ideas can stand for themselves, and some of the ideas are novel and of value.

It is the CHEAPEST OF SHOTS – absolutely the cheapest – to claim that the ideas on this blog would result in a disconnected kind of relation between faith and the wider public. This is what I am arguing for – a liberal democracy with human rights and the rule of law, as opposed to regimes based around violence – terrorist or state based.

Another article in the Sydney Morning Herald about how far we have already slided into totalitarianism: Goering got it so right by Richard Ackland In case you may not have realised, what I have been doing with this blog and the ideas expressed through it is to try to articulate a liberal democratic alternative to our current political status quo.

I’ve just started up a new blog for discussion of republican models, in particular the Copernican models if people so choose. To hopefully generate some discussion, the thirty questions that were in the Senate Inquiry into an Australian Republic discussion paper have been posted so that comments can be made on the individual questions.
