7gs stands for the Seven Golden Stars. Seven Golden Stars is the name for a new design for a green and gold Australian flag. The new flag design includes the Southern Cross, the Federation Star and the Sun from the Aboriginal Flag. The sun also happens to be a star, hence the name. These well known Australian symbols are arranged in a distinctive design on a flag with a green background.
There is a subtle distinction between the words ‘gold’ and ‘golden’. 7gs and Seven Golden Stars are not to be confused with a flag with literally seven gold stars on it. The star closest to the earth, the sun, appears to us as a solid disc and not at all like a star in the night sky. The flag consists of one gold disc in the canton, one gold five-pointed star and five seven-pointed gold stars, all on a green background. Some versions of the flag are charged with the Australian Coat of Arms. The stars are arranged symmetrically.
The white band along the hoist edge of the flag places the star Delta Crucis at the centre of the extended flag horizontally. Without the band on the left the flag looks out of kilter or off balance to me. White contains every colour of the spectrum. That gap is there to include everyone.
The flag designs have been registered as designs with IP Australia. They are protected against unauthorised reproduction. Trademarks have also been registered to protect the names and logo in
The flags were designed by Robert Vose. The registered designs, trademarks and companies are also owned solely by Robert Vose as an individual. There is no group associated with 7gs or Seven Golden Stars. These things were started up during the Howard years and during those years he was, understandably, a very lonely chap.
