Wave packets

Here are a few other things to consider about this idea for electrical energy storage.
As a system you could think of this as a form of energy storage, but inside the box it looks more like a holding pattern for (hopefully) large amounts of electrical energy with hopefully little dissipative loss over time (with a power factor near one and at a superconducting temperature to start with). A large pulse of energy coursing around a cycle would have to be contained within a small timeframe to prevent damage to the capacitors. Wave packets have a tendency to disperse over time. Waves of differing frequencies travel at slightly different speeds, so a collection of waves as a narrow packet will flatten out in time. With growing leading and trailing edges to a pulse, an electrical pulse may damage a capacitor in such a cycle without modification over time. So it may be necessary to regularly take a pulse out of a cycle and then put it back in crisp and sharp.

Another idea that I remember (perhaps incorrectly) but can not verify is that the Fourier sum of all frequencies of sinusoids only has a magnitude greater than zero around the origin of a graph, everywhere else the waves superimpose to cancel each other out. If with this energy storage idea these cycles can be made to move pulses around linearly, and it was possible to superimpose a couple of pulses in a way that they lessen the strain on the components of the cycle without losing the energy, then it may be possible to have one place on the cycle that would have to be able to deal with a large magnitude, and everywhere else on the cycle that would have to only need to deal with perturbations as the cycle increases or decreases the amount of energy it holds. It would be like a handle on the cycle. The quality of the ‘handle’ would give an indication of the energy held in the cycle. It would make for cheaper construction of these storage cycles if they could have these properties, otherwise all parts of the cycle would need to be of very high quality. It would appear from the outside with such a hypothetical linear cycle that the apparent-pulse is stationary, rather than coursing around the whole cycle.

This sounds strange and silly maybe. Normally someone would take the – considerable – time to find out if the ideas would work. With research the crap ideas can be dropped and the ideas that work developed. People wouldn’t normally make ideas like this public before they are tested, for fear of ridicule mainly (or they could prove to be very valuable).
