We all know what road rage is. Perhaps we could use a similar kind of framework to understand executives who don’t seem to have much of a grasp of the reality that they have some control over and who, none-the-less, issue grandiose decrees repeatedly. Because of their unrealistic expectations they don’t tend to achieve much, even if they work at a manic pace. Questioning souls who might point out that a particular plan of action is not feasible would be ralphed upon and humiliated for not having a Yes-Sir!-Can-Do!-Of-Cour!-Se-Sir! attitude. You’d have to be hopping on around and down the corridors like a Wonderland Warrior to keep yourself in the good books with such a boss. And you wouldn’t collectively achieve anything of worth. Yet, if that’s the culture, that’s the culture you have to play to. The futility would drive a Wonderland Executive into a fury where in an attempt to regain a sense of control he’d issue spontaneous ejaculations of expletives and directives that would set The Warren hares a runnin’. And then there is the cunicultural trickle down effect…
