Nokia N900

The new Nokia N900 looks awesome. It is expected to be released in the next few days in the United States and in Europe towards the end of the month. They haven’t given a release date for Australia. I haven’t used one or even seen one, but the Debian based operating system Maemo 5.0 (Fremantle) looks like it is much more flexible than any of the other smart phone operating systems – including Android. This looks like a phone that can bridge computer networks with customised software to mobile phones. It looks like it can do much more than exchanging documents or syncing with email.

My mobile phone is very old and barely working. I’ve been keeping an eye out for a new smart phone for a long time now. The Palm Pre looked good, but it won’t be sold downunder. I wanted a phone with an operating system that was open source and well supported. The new Nokia N900 looks like it will be very flexible.

Very informative article. Nikia makes the best and the most reliable cell phones. I just got Nokia E72 and I love it.
