Climate Change, the Smart Grid, Energy Storage and Renewables

Why is a realistic solution for energy systems being ignored and not reported on as a means to slow down and reverse climate change?

The Smart Grid with energy storage and renewable sources is a credible framework that can transform our energy systems and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Energy abstinence and carbon offset indulgences are silly responses and simply will not work. People will want to use energy, they will want to drive cars, they will want the latest consumer goods. We can change the way we use energy for our everyday lives with technology that stores electrical energy, and where that energy is primarily from distributed renewable sources and where the components of these complex energy systems are coordinated to work together seamlessly in a Smart Grid. It can work. It is an alternative. And this alternative can start with our existing energy systems and improve on them.

Why is this option not being reported in the media?

We desperately need to have a sense that we can survive climate change and that there is a way to address the problem constructively. Reporting on this credible alternative will help to ease people’s anxieties about the future.
