I think that we need to start including industrial scale carbon dioxide sinks into our energy systems. These CO2 sinks would be about separating CO2 into its constituent chemicals, solid carbon and oxygen gas. The word ’sink’ is not to be understood literally, as it is with the geosequestration proposal. Sources and sinks are words which have their own particular meanings when it comes to global cycles of chemicals.
